2026 DISES Conference 
From the Andes to the World: YACHAY 
Empowering Education for Inclusive Societies

The Division of International Special Education and Services (DISES), a division of the Council for Exceptional Children, promotes knowledge exchange, collaboration, human rights, and advocacy to those who provide services for individuals with disabilities. DISES promotes international communication, cooperation, and progress in education and services for children who have disabilities and/or gifts and talents. DISES serves as a catalyst for the international exchange of special education practice, promotes international research, and sponsors forums for professional development, and establishes networks that foster international association.

For the 2026 Conference, DISES welcomes the submission of proposals within the following strands:

• Leadership, Policy and Advocacy: Exploring leadership, systems change, and policy-informed practices that promote equity, rights, and inclusive education across local and global contexts.
• Research and Innovation: Sharing empirical and applied research, innovative practices, and cross-cultural studies that expand access, equity, and inclusion.
• Engagement and Collaboration: Highlighting partnerships with families, students, caregivers, communities, and professionals through culturally responsive and globally relevant strategies.
• Inclusive Practices and Professional Learning: Showcasing evidence-based instructional strategies, high-leverage practices, and professional development approaches that prepare and sustain educators in inclusive environments.
