DISES President’s Letter – August 2026

Dear DISES Members,

I hope this message finds you well and that you are enjoying the final days of summer or beginning a new academic year with renewed energy and purpose.

As many of us settle into a new academic year, I hope you've had an opportunity to reflect on the conversations, collaborations, and connections we shared in Peru. Our time together was a wonderful reminder of the strength of our global DISES community and the important work we continue to do in advancing inclusive education around the world. Thank you to everyone who attended, presented, volunteered, and contributed to making our conference such a meaningful experience.

As we look ahead, I want to remind everyone that our 2027 DISES Conference will take place June 15–18, 2027, in Marrakech, Morocco. Our planning team is already hard at work, creating another exceptional opportunity for learning, collaboration, and connection. As you begin planning for the year ahead, I encourage you to consider the research, innovative practices, and experiences you might like to share, and to keep an eye out for our upcoming Call for Proposals, which will be released in the coming months.

Our opportunities to connect don't end with the annual conference. I invite you to join us for our next DISES Sip n Chat on August 22 at 12pm-1pm (EST), featuring The Framework of Family Engagement: Who, What, Where, When, How, and Why. I hope you'll join us for what promises to be an engaging conversation with colleagues from around the world. As we move into this new season, I encourage you to remain engaged with DISES throughout the year. Whether through our professional learning opportunities, committee work, webinars, or conversations with colleagues, your contributions continue to strengthen our division and advance our shared mission of supporting exceptional learners and those who serve them across international contexts.
